When to buy your wedding shoes?

There's a question almost every bride eventually asks: "when should I buy my shoes?" And it almost always comes up after the dress, catering, and guest list have already been sorted out... as if the shoes are the last link in a long chain of decisions. But the reality is that this small detail deserves its own time — and its own care.

The most common mistake: leaving it until the end

It's understandable. The dress takes all the attention, and the shoes seem "just an accessory." But buying them in a rush, in the last few weeks, usually leads to two problems: not finding the size or style you really wanted, and not having time to "break them in" — because yes, even the finest leather needs to adapt to your foot before the big day.

The ideal time: between 4 and 6 months before

At flordeasoka, we recommend buying your shoes shortly after you have your dress — or even at the same time, if you already know the cut and silhouette you're looking for. This timeframe gives you:

Room for adjustments. Every foot is different, and a handcrafted shoe fits best when there's time to refine it.

The opportunity to wear them to your dress fitting. The hem, the length, the way the fabric drapes — everything depends on the height and silhouette of the shoe you choose. Going to try on your dress without knowing what shoes you'll wear is like painting a picture without knowing what frame it will have.

Time to "walk" in them at home. Wedding shoes are not worn for the first time on the wedding day. You walk in them beforehand, at home, a few minutes each day, so that on the important day your feet already recognize them as your own.

What you shouldn't do: buy them too far in advance without room for adjustment

It's also not about buying them a year in advance without any plan. If your weight, size, or even the final dress design might change, it's better to wait until the big decisions are more settled — dress chosen, silhouette defined — before taking the plunge.

The conclusion

The perfect shoe isn't the one you rush to buy in the last week. It's the one you choose calmly, try on with care, and wear so many times beforehand that on the wedding day it feels like walking with a part of yourself.
