What shoes should I wear if my boyfriend is short?

It's one of the most searched questions on Google by brides, and almost never said out loud. It's searched for alone, with a bit of shame, as if it were a problem to be solved in secret. It's not. It's simply a style decision — just like choosing the bouquet or the hairstyle — and like any style decision, it has more than one good answer.

We're going to give them all to you.

First, what no one tells you: you don't have to give up anything

The easy option is "just wear flat shoes and that's it." But that answer treats heels as if they were mandatory and flats as a consolation prize. On the contrary: a well-designed flat shoe is not a sacrifice, it's a choice — the same one you would make if you simply preferred to be comfortable, without anyone's height entering the equation.

Option 1: Embrace flats, but choose ones with character

A flat wedding shoe can have as much presence as a heel, if it's well thought out. Look for:

  • Design and detail that make the shoe "speak" even if it's flat on the ground — rhinestones, texture, a noticeable silhouette.
  • Real comfort to dance all night long without thinking about your feet even once.

(This is where Juana, Cocó and Lois come in — your ballet flats designed precisely for this: elegance without heels, for brides who want to be impeccable and not spend the night barefoot.)

Option 2: A low heel or kitten heel

If you want some height without going to extremes, a 3-4 cm heel adds elegance without a dramatic height difference — and is still much more manageable for dancing than a high heel.

Our Greta are perfect for this option.

Option 3: Change shoes halfway through the wedding

Many brides do the ceremony and photos in heels, and at dance time switch to flats. It's the most practical solution of all: you get the best of both worlds, and no one on the dance floor notices centimeters — they notice that you're dancing.

What really matters

A height difference between two people who love each other is not a styling problem. It's, at most, a photo where you look at each other differently. What really matters on your wedding day is that your shoes can keep up with the party, make you feel like yourself, and don't make you think even once, "I wish I had taken them off earlier."

Therefore, rather than "what shoes should I wear if my boyfriend is short," the real question is: what shoes do I want to wear? And there, flat or with heels, the answer is always the same: ones you can wear all night without thinking about them.
